Coaching is different than therapy, but it has a basis in the underlying idea of having someone from outside one’s own brain to listen and interact about thoughts and challenges. The interaction is different, addressing ideas and life direction, and is more of a two-way process, and can occur on a less frequent time frame.
The coaching conversation consists of some problem-solving and looking at blind spots and stuck places, whether in career, intellectual or artistic pursuit, or social issues, including dating. Goals are determined for the personal or professional issue that calls for support and guidance.
A series of steps is often the format, but that is determined by the client, and as these steps are carried out, forward movement is quantified, while holdbacks are investigated and worked out in real time, and move toward breakthrough and freedom to advance towards goal.
